Why I Love Evernote !

Because of 3 reasons:

1. It Organizes Documents.

2. It Organizes Web Search.

3. No Gadget Space Required.

1. ORGANIZING DOCUMENTS:

Evernote is an excellent application to digitize your documents. It's camera has different options, one being "document". When you take a picture of a document using this mode, it primarily catches the printed material on the paper and saves it. This does not only make the document much more readable in the digital format, it also makes it searchable. Thus if you have kept a letter in the Evernote and later all you can remember about that letter is that it contained the word "Profit" in it, forget about its date, what title you gave it, in which folder (called notebook here) you saved it, etc. Just type the word "Profit" in the search bar and you will have it. Wow!

On top of that, you can give the document a title, can place it in a particular notebook or stack of notebooks and even can give a tag to all the similar documents in different notebooks. And then you can search by title, or tag also or just see all the documents/notes with same tag or just go and see all the documents placed in a notebook (folder).

It even makes your handwritten documents searchable! So if you have digitize a handwritten note containing the word "idea" in it, in your handwriting, writing the word "idea" in the search bar will fetch the note containing picture of your hand written note.

2. ORGANIZING WEB SEARCH.

You are searching the web on a particular point and you find a lot of relevant information distributed on different web pages and in different formats, html, pdf, jpeg, etc. What will you do? Bookmark all these pages or copy paste them in Word or something?

With Evernote Web Clipper installed, you will have an icon of Elephant's face on the top bar of your browser. Whenever you like a web page, just click that icon and the complete page or only the text in it or even its screen shot (as you would like) will be saved in your Evernote as a note. Make a notebook and start saving all these web pages in that notebook. Later, you can read them all, at your leisure in Evernote, all placed together. Your notes will have the web addresses also, so you can go to any such web page whenever you like.

3. NO GADGET SPACE REQUIRED.

All the documents, web pages, pictures, etc that you will be saving in the Evernote will be saved on it's server, not in your gadget. So don't worry about space. The system is like a web based email, hotmail, gmail, etc. You have all the emails and attachments available but you don't require space on your computer or smartphone.

Evernote application is available in Windows, Mac, Apple and Android. So whatever note you will save, will be synchronized and will be available on all your gadgets with Evernote installed.

There are a host of other features too, but for me, for the time being at least, these are the most effective.

And it has 3 versions or levels. The first level is free and has some limited features, like the space that you can use is 60MB per month. The top level is Evernote Premium and it has all its features with unlimited storage available. Premium costs US$ 50 per year. Something like Rs. 500/- (Pakistani) per month. Not bad really.

You can have hundreds and thousands of your documents including your ID Cards, Passports, Credit Cards, Educational Credential, Property Records, Work related important documents, etc etc etc in your pocket all the time; organized, searchable, shareable and even printable. Only if you have internet and Evernote!

Lovely!
