Charity My Foot!

Why charity is bad for Pakistan!

We elect government and pay direct and indirect taxes so that it provides infrastructure and essential utilities for us.

But it does not. And we don't mind.

Neither we ask tough questions from our govt nor we stop voting for it. We simply pool money and get work done all by ourselves.

What message we give to govt and politicians? We don't need performance, we just need hollow slogans!

Media has been reporting about the upcoming disaster in Thar desert of Sindh due to water shortage. [Link]

But govt cannot see the children dying  of thirst in Thar, it can only see the its coal reserves. [Link] Govt is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of children there, but who cares. [Link]

Govt of PPP is the ruling party in sindh since last half of the century and it seems that it is not bothered about doing any development work in Thar

Even during this disaster, govt seemed unmoved; and for good reasons. Because even when their children were dying of thirst, which was happening mainly due to inefficiency and negligence of govt, people were not threatening the govt. of their wrath in the next elections. When media asked who will they vote for in the next elections, they were determined, and clear; Bhutto!

What message were they giving to their corrupt govt? That no matter what happens, no matter what you do to us, we will elect you; so don't worry and keep up your corruption and maladministration, you have nothing to lose.

And how possibly are we any better than these illiterate ignorants? We the educated, intelligent and resourceful. What are we doing? What message are we delivering to that and other of our govts? That you are bad and we are good? So keep doing your bad work and keep get elected, we will do your work?

Instead of raising voices and pressurizing the govts to do something immediately for the relief of those dying in Thar, punishing those who are responsible for this disaster and be careful in future, we have started charity work in Thar. Everyone, with his white or black money is interested in trading his house in paradise for some wells in Thar. No one is really far sighted enough to make sure this doesn't happen again.
