We The Donkey Drivers

By Tipu Salman Makhdoom

We do not drive like reasonable drivers, we drive like crazy creatures.

We don't drive cars like machines, we drive cars like donkey carts.

Driving is not a sport, it has developed into a very important social phenomenon because in addition to being effective, it is very dangerous too. Safe driving is required not only for the people in the car but also for those who have absolutely nothing to do with it.

When we come out of cars, people find us well educated, reasonable and decent people. But before that, all that people can access about us from our driving is that we are idiots, cheaps and rascals.

In our eagerness to reach early, we not only get late, we also make other people get late; and end up in a mess.

Although we pose as if we don't know, we know that due to our dirty driving habits, people make very low assessments of our characters.

All that is required for a good drive is to follow three simple rules:

1. Keep left,
2. Keep distance,
3. Observe speed limit.

What rocket science is involved in driving sensibly, that we fail to observe, is beyond my comprehension.
